Winter 2016 in NY

Similar cardigan | J.crew lookout jeans | J.crew chambray | beanie

I have to admit, at this time last year I was feeling pretty far from myself. If you guys even remember, I paused on blogging! I think I took a month or two to just be. It's funny how life varies year-to-year, because this year I couldn't feel closer to myself. Winter 2016 has done a 180 on me. Maybe it's because my hair isn't RED (why!!!) or because I am working a job that feels more "me" or maybe we're just a bit more settled here, but it's exciting!

I can't believe it's already friday! This week was just lovely, I returned to NY on monday evening, and was able to finally play in the snow a bit before it all melted! matt and i met up with robert & christina of new darlings on wednesday, which was a treat. it's always fun meeting bloggers (& instant friends) in real life, and dreaming how wonderful it would be if they lived close by! then today i worked from NYC, and drank one too many cups of coffee ;) this weekend we're planning on adventuring, so make sure to follow along on twitter, pinterest & snapchat (steffyspandcs)!

Miami Happy

Plaid shirt | UO skirt | UO beanie | UO bag | Ray-Ban glasses

I am home after a 5-day work trip, trying to catch up on life - one of the items on my list being update this blog! Miami was cold, guys. After a relatively mild NY winter, i was admittedly chilly down there. I was able to attend the dachshund fest on South Beach and be the creepy girl who was petting everyones else's dog, but didn't have one of my own. That was fun. I also spent some time with family & friends. It feels REALLY good to be back in NY, soaking in the beauty that the blizzard brought! I'll be back with more pictures soon. Xo

Seeya In Miami ✈️ ✈️

Just in time to miss the upcoming blizzard, I am off to Miami for work. I do love the thrill of a great snowstorm, so I am a bit sad to miss it, but I am very excited to be able to work from our Miami offices, and catch up with family and friends!

I will make sure to snap tons of pictures, but in the meantime make sure to follow along on instagram and twitter!

Brooklyn Scenic

J.Crew coat | Topshop skirt | Similar tee

Some of the most beautiful city views can be seen from DUMBO. I particularly love when it's grey like this, with a hint of fog.

I know it must seem like I have 8 gazillion jackets, but I promise there's not more than a handful. lol. I treated myself to this coat as well, because last year I had a ton of lower quality coats that were too thin, so I was always chilly. It's fun to slowly build a quality winter wardrobe, one that will last! I was in between this coat in this color VS grey. I chose this one because of how happy it is on a dull winter day. I'm still not 100% with my decision, which would you have gone with?

We grabbed a cup of coffee at Brooklyn Roasting Company. Matt is pickier with coffee than I am, and according to him it gets a thumbs up. ;)

Our Industrial/Minimalist Style Bedroom... [After!]

Instax camera | similar hat

Our bedroom furniture is mostly from our previous apartment, but we've added and subtracted things that didn't quite fit. It is (of course) always a work in progress, and I plan to add more to the wall behind our bed, along with side tables and some additional shelving, but it is nice to keep the space somewhat simple and clean!

A ton of the furniture is vintage, and then some is from IKEA & Monroe Trades! I'll make sure to share as we update the space! Xo

bows/ bowie

boy has it been windy around these parts, but still not cold enough to say goodbye to knee highs. I figured out that as long as I have a scarf on and keep my head and hands warm, I can get away with knee highs for most of the winter here, which is a HUGE win for me. Also, most of this outfit is re-mixed from older items which is another win.

yesterday was a pretty sad day for music, i am still processing it. it is so easy to forget that these legends, who have stuck with us generation to generation, are still living, until they're gone. there's only a few of them left, so we have to treasure them.

"planet earth is blue, and there's nothing I can do." RIP David Bowie.

Cold Front

Canada Goose coat | J.Crew chambray | Madewell jeans | UO bag

It was 2 degrees on this day. two. but this winter, i finally invested in a GOOD coat, and let me tell you guys, it has changed me (and no this is not sponsored lol). I couldn't feel the cold in this coat, it was a miracle. having proper winter clothes really does make all of the difference. Now, if only winter would come to NY already! HAHA. I am ready for the magic of snowfall. Here's a few more pictures from Maine:

We stopped into the Portland Flea-for-all, and picked up some amazing antiques. The prices are super reasonable and they have vintage for all different tastes - from rustic to retro.

... Well that's all for Maine! Hope we inspired you to make the journey there someday! :)

Portland, Maine - places we went & what I wore Part 1

Urban Outfitters bag | Bonlook glasses | Madewell scarf

Portland, Maine is my new favorite place besides Long Beach (for living purposes). We would 100% move here, and even had tons of wild conversations about what ifs in a few years after this visit. It's the kind of city that people who are fed up with the high NY cost of living and fast-paced living move to, and it shows. There's tons of blooming businesses and artisans. We're smitten.

We stopped into the Palace Diner (twice!) It's adorable, but also has delicious food. We chatted with the barista, and she showed us a book on the history of the place! It's been around since the early 1900's.

Two lights Park had some beautiful hikes, and the snow was UNREAL!

Tandem Coffee fulfilled our coffee dreams, but we were also shocked how great the food was! The ambiance is super retro as well, with beautiful natural light.

I'll be back with more photos soon :)

NYC Days Off

Lately, I just feel kind of blank. I'm not even uninspired, that's the weird part. I feel SUPER inspired, with a wealth of ideas and the drive to make these idea happen, but feelings-wise I'm blank. Maybe as you grow up, you learn to unfeel because feeling can be hard. As good as it feels to feel, it is equal parts bad. Every day I get the privilege to see beautiful places and scenery (& i think to myself WOW this is a moment right now), and I snap these photos, and I feel nothing. I'm not on a grind, my life is beautifully unpredictable, but I just want more. I always want more.

I can't figure out if that is a good thing, and the driving force behind where I am today, or if it is bad. Why can't I just sit back and enjoy things, without always planning ahead? I'm trying to be here in this moment because I know these moments pass us by so quickly. Here's a day off when my brother visited, it was a lovely day, one I'll probably remember forever. ♥
