Anemia Confessions

I was debating whether to share this, but I decided it is something that has happened to me, so I am sure there's others out there going through the same thing!

A month or so ago, I was feeling EXHAUSTED. not like, I went to bed two hours too late because i binge watched Netflix last night exhausted. It was different - something felt off. i felt dizzy getting up, my breath was short, i was having trouble running and by the end of the day i needed a nap, and i NEVER nap. of course i googled my symptoms and drove myself a bit nuts before I went to the doctor.

Turns out I am anemic, which means my red blood cell count is short. my doctor recommended i start taking iron pills every day, i guess for forever. Sort of mind boggling that I am going to have to take a pill every day now, but i must admit since i started taking iron I've felt a 180 degree difference. I feel like myself again, i can finally wake up in the morning with a burst of energy that steams me through a workout and a full day of work! It is incredible how a tiny imbalance in iron can throw everything off!

This has been my little journey lately. Are any of you anemic? I would love to hear your story...

we all scream for ice cream.

This week is rain, rain and more rain, so I am going to be bold and say this post signifies the END of summer. happyface. i like colder weather, so I am not complaining. I just cannot decide if an ice cream clutch works when you're bundled up sipping hot chocolate! Glad I could take it out on an afternoon walk so it had its time to shine :)

A Lazy Saturday (& Bananas)

When all else fails... we go to the Laurel Diner. I can't even list how many dinners I've had for breakfast, and breakfasts I've had for dinner at this place. Now that pumpkin is ALL THE RAGE, I had to try their pumpkin muffin and break my sweets ban temporarily. I almost want to keep logs of Matt and I's conversations here year-to-year, I am sure that would give us a good chuckle.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend :)

30 before 30 / my bucket list...

I'm a few months into my 28th year, and I can't lie to you, turning 30 has been on the brain. I know age is just a number, and I am 100% young at heart, but there's so many things I want to do, and so little time! It's amazing how fast time flies by - I can't believe I started this blog when I was only 23 years old. Anyway, here's some things Matt and I have been talking about, and things I personally want to accomplish.

What are some things you want to accomplish in the next year?

P.S. thanks for inspiring me to do this Elsie & Carrie

Clearly Different

Since before I can remember,  I've been one of those people who lived on sugar. It made me happy, it made me nostalgic and it was integrated into part of who i was - so much so that my instagram description even said "sweets lover!" Well, a month or so ago, I decided I wanted to make a big change, and cut out sweets. Obviously sugar can be found in TONS of foods, like fruits, but i just mean bad sugars like cookies, ice cream, candy etc.

I was SO excited when I discovered Zevia, a non-GMO, sugar-free soda that I can sip on when I feel like i need something sweet! the ginger root beer flavor is actually my fave, but i loveee this pink can. It is #ClearlyDifferent than any other drink out there.

I'm excited to partner with Zevia to give one of you a $500 visa gift card! Just follow @ZeviaLife for a chance to win!

Seventies

the 1970's are back, and i couldn't be more thrilled. it is by far the decade that influences both my personal style and my decorating style the most! mini-skirts, rust colors, loafers... my dreams coming true. I've compiled a little wishlist of some of my favorite 70's inspired items...

Brick & Denim

The 70's are back, and you don't see me complaining. I can remember my mom wearing skirts like this when I was little, because she literally never throws away her clothing and she continued to wear it through the decades. Now I own one - funny how that works.

Have a lovely weekend, TGIF working gals! Make sure to follow my weekend adventures in instagram and snapchat (steffyspandcs) - I'll be doing something fun Friday night!

Our Fave San Francisco Spots

1. Cream: I haven't been eating sweets lately, but I made an exception for this place. You get to pick your own cookie flavor from a long list of options, and then pick the ice cream flavor you like most along with toppings. It's adorable AND tastes amazing.

2. La Taqueria:  DELICIOUS local joint with on of the best tacos I've ever had. The avocado was so fresh, and the chicken was perfectly moist (i hate that word, but it describes it well!)

3. Slickenside:  This is only the hill we hiked to get to the actual slickenside, but it is really cool and worth checking out. It's a large polished rock that lies along the fault line, so the rocks rub against eachother. It seems pretty uneventful, but is really amazing to see and the view isn't too shabby.

4. Tartine: We've heard about this place for a while, and it was well worth the wait. The bread is to die for, and all of the sandwiches are delicious. The coff isn't too bad either ;)

5. Iron Horse: A bit outside of the city of San Fran, this place is breathtaking AND they serve bubbly! It was hands-down my favorite winery of the handful that we stopped into!

6. Golden Gate Park Conservatory of Flowers: I walked around here at dusk with my best friend - she said the flowers aren't always this beautiful (it depends on the time of year) but in September, this is a MUST SEE. It was filled with inspiring colors and flowers!

THE BIG APPLE

NYC is my favorite place in the entire world. when i close my eyes and think about where i would want to be on a day off, or a vacation, i would pick it every time. it is THE ONE.

It's not that i don't love other places, because I do. San Francisco was beautiful and calm and scenic. But i think me and NYC fit eachother- i can't sit still, I'm restless, I am always looking ahead. NY feels like it's on the same page as me, always. this view will never get old.

Cozy in the Redwoods

We spent labor day wandering around the Redwoods, and it was breathtaking. It is so quiet as you walk around, and we didn't see a single animal! The climate is so different from what we're used to - dry and cool. It was refreshing, and perfect for bundling up all cozy.
