Key Lime Pie Date

This cute little spot in Red Hook is one of our summer favorites. I've gotta say, I totally understand why people reproduce... I imagine you love your kid like a thousand times more than you love your dog - but for now all I can compare it to is my love for Claude. AND, I just want to bring her with me EVERYWHERE, but so many places are not dog friendly! (this one not being one of them!)

So, how amazing to be able to bring your living human child with you everywhere because YOURE ALLOWED! um, amazing. my little hairy child is not always allowed, and it bums me out. so, here is a day she came with and it was phenomenal. great views, yummy key lime pie. the best.

A Weekend Photo Diary... (& news!)

So, this might be a shock BUT we're selling our condo! It's my favorite place in the universe, so we aren't moving far, maybe just a block or two away. Cannot wait to share this little journey with you!

P.S. Loving this sweet little number from Unique Vintage!

On Thursday after work Matt and I went for a little date in the city. We grabbed sushi, and went to see Sam Beam from Iron & Wine play with Ben Bridwell from Band of Horses. it was a lovely show, and i still cannot believe we can just pop into the city WHENEVER.

this jumpsuit is from last year, but it is sooo comfy, and remains one of my favorites. have a lovely weekend!! xo

It's the only time of the year I'll shop at J.Crew ...

So, obviously J.Crew is usually expensive for us common folk. I worked there for years, and loved my discount, but since saying goodbye I know there's a few times of year when it makes sense to shop! With their Fall items arriving, this week is PERFECT! Here's some of my faves...

1. Everyone needs a good pair of brogues for Fall.

2. I have a J.Crew skirt similar to this, and I get a TON of use out of it!

3. My J.Crew sweaters are always Fall/Winter faves, and this one is so fun and colorful! I love this one on sale too.

4. I always love J.Crew jackets, but can't justify them til' sale. This one is rockin' and so is this one!

5. An infinity scarf always makes an outfit more interesting, love this dotted one!

6. I adore Hugo Guiness, and everything about this.

A few new items I'm dying over are this tippi and these boots. Happy Shoppin'!

Dear anyone who has ever dyed their hair...

So this girls got some ROOTS. If you thought my hair was this blonde, now you know... it is actually this color. I'd kill to have my natural color back these days, but am so so done with adding ANY dye into my hair. so it looks like i will have an ombre "my hair is in an awkward stage of color" look going on for a while.

Any suggestions on growing out dyed hair?!? MUCH APPRECIATED!!

I am reading this inspirational book called "Get off your BUT" and it basically addresses ways to stop saying "I want to do X... BUT" with an excuse, fear, or reason behind why you won't ever end up doing this thing. Well, I've been wanting to launch my YouTube channel for way too long, and this book was my launching pad. Matt works as a freelance filmmaker, so he's been teaching me some tricks and helping me shoot. It has been really fun, and I cannot wait to share our 1st video soon!

We snapped these on a neighborhood walk, and I absolutely adore how comfy this Stelly romper is! I've also been lusting after this Wanderlust + Co bracelet that is so very dreamy. ♥

Nautical. ⚓⚓

Lately, all I've been wearing are nautical patterns. I can't decide if I feel like a sailor, or slightly french, but either way the outfit always looks classic. I love how easy it is to add a POP of red and call it a day! I've compiled a few summertime nautical pieces i've been lusting after. ♥

1. This adorable anchor patterned pinafore is so on-trend, and I would love to carry it over into fall and layer a long sleeve striped top underneath.

2. I know it's only halfway through summer, but I am already dreaming of fall outfits, and this adorable sweater would look amazing with black skinnies and a brown satchel!

3. Endlessly chic sunnies that match with everything. Sign me up!

4. I can never ever wear my brown satchel enough... it matches with EVERYTHING and adds a lovely vintage vibe.

5. This may be the most perfect swimsuit known to mankind. (except for maybe this one, which I am sad sold out!)

6. Nautical cat flats. enough said.

hello 28th year of being alive! I celebrated all weekend with friends - on saturday we ran a color run 5K and then watched Thao with the get down stay down in prospect park. Sunday we had a BBQ at our apartment, and of course there was a fudgie the whale cake... because it isn't a birthday party without one!

I still cannot believe I am 28... I am really going to soak in every day this year, and try not to let it pass me by too quickly. Xo

There's only 3 days left in my life as a 27-year-old and I must admit, these late twenties are MUCH easier than the early twenties, but also (in my opinion) much more strategic.

my dad told me this year on his birthday that being in your 50's feels like the 2nd half of a run. The first half is tough, and you try to find your rhythm and your breath, but by halfway through you're settled and comfortable. i am not one to gravitate toward comfort, as i love to throw my life upside down and figure things out as i go - but i do see what he means. it feels like every single step i take now, whether it be a career move, or money savings tactics, or when to start a family, are all really big decisions that will effect me later on in life. some things on my mind as a gal approaching her thirties for anyone wondering (& please comment if you feel the same!) are...

- HOLY COW everyone i know is getting married and/or having babies. it is beautiful, and emotional, and also sort of like an epidemic.

- BABIES - are my mom vibes ever going to kick in? will i be a good mom? when is the RIGHT time to have one? should i wait and focus on my career and continue to wonder if getting pregnant will be easy and assume it will be, or should we start because we don't want to be older parents?

- MY HOUSE IS TOO SMALL to even reproduce. HOLY CRAP i need a bigger home (i know a ton of people have probably been here)

- All of my friends are SO professional all of a sudden. Am i this way too? Since when did we get together to talk about jobs and finances and the news? OMG we might be boring.

- Life is really weird because you work to afford the things you want to do, but you can't really ever do them because you have to work. all of these THINGS like buying a VW van and traveling everywhere and being everything we've ever wanted to be.. do we really have to wait to do them because work gets in the way? and when do they ever happen?

- WOW i am lucky to have the husband i have, and the incredible support system around me.

It seems more difficult for me to just enjoy the days as they come lately, because there's so much thinking ahead all the time. But i guess sometimes you really do need to be a planner, and others it is better to ignore the plan.

Any other 28-year-olds out there? I'll see you guys on Monday when I join the club ;)

My Birthday Wishlist ♥

This upcoming Monday (July 13th) is my 28th birthday... It truly crept up on me. I cannot believe I am in my LATE twenties. I will write more about thoughts/ emotions later in the week, but I wanted to share my wishlist with you! Here's some cute things that could fit perfectly in life!

1. I've needed a new record player for a while now, and now is the perfect time!

2. Literally anything doxie will do, especially this pillow! or this, this and this.

3. After our bikes got stolen on South Beach, I've been in the market for a new one - I love this mint one and this pink one.

4. I've recently been into designer sunnies, especially Ray-Bans. The clubmasters are the perfect amount of edgy and they go with anything!

5. I am about to run out of my go-to red lipstick!

so... hint hint mom + dad ;) hehe jk!

Hi there! I am back in my home, getting ready to go back to work tomorrow! My grandma used to say "nice to go away, nice to come home" and it really is true. It feels good to be in my bed, and I am actually excited to see my work friends tomorrow, and catch up! I am lucky to feel that way - I remember at the end of vacations when we lived in Miami, I would usually shed some tears/ dread returning home. It's so nice to love where we live! I won't ever ever take it for granted, promise.

There is no question that life passes by quickly, but vacation is on fast forward! It feels like we just arrived, and we're already heading home tomorrow. Oh how the passage of time is so bittersweet! Here's some snapshots from the past few days... if you're heading out to Martha's Vineyard, two places to definitely check out are...

1. Lucky Hanks - the garden is pictured above - they have the yummiest breakfast!
2. Jaws Bridge Jump - there's also a snapshot and Matt made the jump!
