Dots and GIFS

An evening walk around the neighborhood tonight wearing some of my new vintage pieces paired with some new spring pieces i snagged. ♥ I told Matt, "this feels kind of like my uniform - i feel very me," and he said "How does one have a uniform when they own a million pieces of clothing??" LOL i laughed... guys are funny. They just don't get it :)

I am loving the Lyst GIF maker to share little pieces of my adventures... it's free and shareable which makes it awesome for bloggers like myself! You can show off little intricate details... I thought a twirl was quite appropriate. Make yours at gif.lyst.com and visit Lyst here.

Casual Weekend ❀❁

Beautiful is an understatement to describe today... 50 degrees, inspiringly sunny, endless hours to explore. I took a solo thrifting trip to brooklyn (i used to solo thrift in miami a ton, but not much since i moved here!) and MAN did it feel great. I love driving around brooklyn, city skyline views out my window and so many adorable places everywhere. i ran into some friends at the thrift store and grabbed dinner with a college friend. sometimes all we really need is some fresh air - there is honestly NOTHING greater than wandering aimlessly around brooklyn on a beautiful day.

i'm feeling really optimistic after several months of pessimism, and i think it has to do with the weather. i'm ready to say goodbye to my pale complexion and to let my shoulders and toes breath some fresh air :)

i hardly ever feel like jeans are "blog-worthy" but HEY, i wear jeans almost every day, so here's an honest work day outfit. i read this interesting article today talking about how people today miss out on the most important moments in their lives by trying to capture and immortalize them on their cell phones. i felt sad for a second, because i know i do that. how do we live them, but also have memories to look back on all at once?

How to dress for a spring day in brooklyn.

1. vintage pink sweater

2. add some tights to stay warm

3. hair in a messy bun, because WIND

i decided a few things this week... the first being that sometimes it's easier to not overthink a look, and to polish it off with black tights and boots because it is easy. the second being WHY DID I CUT MY HAIR, i am going to wear it like this until i wake up and it is long one day.

happy spring, it feels good to finally be past winter!

Vintage Spring Dress

It's been a while since I sewed and altered vintage, but this weekend I explored some Long Island thrift stores and found some cute spring vintage! I took up the hem on this dress, and it quickly became a favorite! Oh how I love vintage oh so very much. I'll be sharing some tips for thrifting later this week, please let me know in the comments any questions you may have!

the story of my NYC Fashion Blogger life...

This dock in Long Beach is quite scenic, especially on a rainy day like this one. I used to come here when I was growing up, and ice skate at the rink right down the street. We would spend the summer days playing at the park, being young, not realizing that we'd come back and visit years down the road filled with nostalgia.

That is why I love living here. It's all good memories, everywhere I go. Childhood is so fresh, so new, so in-the-moment, and the beauty of it is you don't even REALIZE you're present, you just are. nowadays it is quite the opposite... i don't even realize the time is passing me by, it just is. all the memories blend into one, and the days into months... months to years. and BAM, just like that I'm a grown up human being. life is crazy guys...

Beachside Sunset Coffee

Daylight savings is a good investment, in my opinion. You feel extra sleepy for a few days and waking up is more of a struggle but the trade off is huge. A full two hours of sunlight after work!! It feels quite delightful to walk around my neighborhood and watch the sunset... and will be wonderful for the blog as well :)

Matt brewed us some coffee, and we watched the sunset from the boardwalk. Afterwards we took claude for the longest walk she's been on since Fall. The feeling of spring is exhilarating! Who else is loving the extra daylight?

Swipe Right.

Swipe left or right is a thing now... and a thing I felt left out of. Until Pinxter, that is. It's like Lookbook.nu, but more addicting. You can upload your outfit photos for others to judge, or you can be the judge of whether outfits are cute enough for a swipe right :)

Make sure to find me, my name is steffyspandcs of course. Xo

MIAMI SUN☀

I'm in Miami for the first time since I moved away 8 months ago, and it sure feels good. My skin is defrosting, I visited all of my favorite places and on Saturday I get to watch my best friend in the world get married!! It is mind boggling how NY can be blizzarding while the sun continues to shine in 80 degree Miami. Make sure to follow my trip on snapchat (@steffyspandcs)!

In My Room.

There's no place like home. It took a little settling in to really feel like "this is where i live now," after residing in South Beach for a few years, but now it feels real.

Matt snapped these amidst a normal day... snowed in drinking coffee and listening to music. I realize now that these are the days that make Winter great. Being stir-crazy together, playing board games, making epic brunches in the house and MAYBE just maybe making a short trek into the snow covered universe outside to see if it's an apocalypse out there. I want to bring more of these real moments into this space to share with you. There's a fine balance between living them and capturing them, but I think we are slowly figuring out how to combine the two.

How do you manage to capture your world without losing the integrity of living in it?
