❄ Logical Layers ❄

It's easy to fall in and out of love. I feel like I am doing it every day, week, month. My feelings on being a pet owner, my love/hate relationship with green beans and my mood while I am getting dressed... all shifting always. This month I REEEALLLY love edamame, but I hate high waisted skirts - a love of mine for years. It's all so confusing, but my biggest mixed emotion goes out to my perception of the winter.

The first day of the snow was exhilarating. I can remember walking to work in the 95 degree heat in Miami and DREAMING of bone chilling days. But admittedly, some mornings while I'm driving to work in my not-yet-warmed-up car, all my little cold fingers crave is to feel the warm sand beneath my fingertips. It's not a HATE relationship though, it's entirely split down the middle because there's a lot of aspects of winter that I find to be captivating. Like snow covered beaches, for example. The quiet peaceful feeling of seeing the sea wash up onto a snowy shore is unmatched.

Are you over Winter yet?

My Fave NY Coffee Spot..

Contrary to popular belief, I live in Long Island, not NYC. Long Island is quite different than the city - it is suburbia. The houses are bigger, most residents get around by car not train, you can't walk everywhere, and it is sort of small towny. It also lacks the trendy-hipster-brick walls and exotic lighting hanging in random places type restaurants that speckle the streets of brooklyn. I like those... and often miss them on weeks I can't make it into BK or NYC. Gentle Brew is literally the only place in my city that gives me that vibe.

Usually on weekends or days off you can find us here - with Claude since they're pet friendly! Here's some snaps from a coff date this weekend. Blueberry waffles & Cafe ole included! ♥

How do you beat the suburbia blues?

Snowy Central Park. ♥

Lately i've been thinking a lot about moments. what makes some trivial memories stick out, while big moments such as middle school graduation may fade away over time? it's seemingly random and never ever predictable. i have this one memory from high school in "The Canoli Kitchen" in boca raton, florida. my friend was balancing a gatorade bottle on my head, and it fell and splashed everywhere in the middle of the line of people waiting. we were young and irresponsible, and honestly we had a case of the giggles... all we could do was laugh hysterically. the rest of the night is a fog - as is the day before it and the day after, but that one 3 minute snippet in time is so vivid, being so young and carefree. yet walking to get my high school diploma during graduation is absolutely blank.

i've been trying to slow down lately, and remain present in moments so more of these special snippets happen. i truly think they make up the things in life that have meaning. walking around central park in the snow was surreal.. it was Valentines day, the ground was beautifully white and my Dolce Vita sneaks blended in perfectly. the world gets quiet when it snows. ♥

what's a special moment you return to?

Arctic Freeze at NYFW

Karma is a B, and us fashion lovers must have some prettttty bad Karma. After living through my first winter, I swear that this week has been by far the COLDEST week. I swore off fashion week last Sept, but I am a believer in second chances. I took off on Friday and attended some showroom collection previews, parties, etc.

Here's my fashion week mentality:

1. NEVER take for granted the incredible opportunity to be places I never dreamed I'd be invited to. But...

2. Don't lose site of who I am.. just a normal girl living the the burbs', and always stay grounded because it is easy to get lost in the materialism of it all.

What's your two cents about the whole thing?

small things // great love

T-minus 2 days until that big dreaded/loved day of love. I admittedly think the day is very silly, and people who love each other should just be in love every day... but i do enjoy dressing in red, pink and hearts in the days leading up to it :)

i remember my very first valentines day with a valentine. it was 10th grade, and my crush made me a pink construction paper heart cut out asking me "Qieres ser mi valentin" in spanish class. it's funny how little things like that stick in our minds forever. i say screw the elegant dinners and expensive v-day outfits... it's the little things that count for the most. simplicity. ♥ love should be simple, right?

360 degree change.

This weekend my 85-year-old grandma told me, "I HATE RED HAIR." no, she isn't color blind and yes she did tell me directly to my face, knowing i just dyed my hair red. i've always been one to stick with my guns though, and while it is a huge change, it is one i've let in with open arms! sometimes it's good to go out of your way to make a lifestyle/ style change, whether it be something as small as switching out the purse you usually carry or something as large as changing jobs/ states/etc.

to be honest, this year i changed my entire existence, which is why i needed a break from this blog. it was a lot of change at once. i changed jobs, states, houses, hair lengths, hair color, friends, etc. etc. it happened really quickly, and it definitely overwhelmed me. but i am still here! my world isn't upside down, not even close. and you know what? all my favorite boots (like these) came with me, and they make me feel a little bit more at home :)

so here's to change..we can do it gals! i am going to conquer my world by continuing to make positive changes, even if they are hard.

Bob Dylan & Bagels.

hello there :) lately my off-the-grid life has consisted of parks and rec catch up, thai food, hikes in the snow wearing so many layers i'm unrecognizable, full emersion into work and new friends. the winter blues are non-existant for me since i love snow, but i am feeling pretty bad about how milky white my skin is, and how much easier it is to eat bagels when you have 9 layers on. oh yeah, and my hair is red!

february will be more "blog focused," especially since i have some fun things lined up. I hope to see some of you at NYFW! your comments on the below post made me realize how important writing is... to me, and to anyone out there reading. i won't give this space up just yet!  XO
