HAPPY HALLOWEEN! It's my favorite day of the year, and I'm off to New Orleans to celebrate! I thrifted this vintage dress, took it in, and added the clown buttons! The rest of the costume (hat and nose) are from Amazon. Tonight I will be adding some face makeup and red to my hair! It's fun to make costumes yourself, they come out more unique that way.

enjoy the day! Here's my costume from last year, the year before and the year before! I'm so glad we have all the memories in photographs! what are you dressing up as?

here's a few more snaps from sunny Florida. don't get to used to the bare skin, because Florida won't be a destination for a long time now :) i haven't worn a bow tie in a while, so adding this vintage one made the look feel a little bit more "me"!

i am off to New Orleans for a bachelorette party this weekend! it will definitely be the best halloween weekend maybe ever! what are you all dressing up as? i have many different costumes - but will share my main one here on halloween! Xo

this weekend i flew into FL to watch my college roommate get married. The saturday of her wedding we had a few hours to kill, and ended up going to a pumpkin patch! with october almost over, we realized that we've done literally zero fall activities. it's funny because when we lived in florida we would do them ALL - carve pumpkins, bake pumpkin muffins/ pumpkin pie, dress up, etc. But here, the weather alone feels so festive that all the other "fall" things were put on the back burner. All we really want to do is GO OUTSIDE. I cannot get enough of outside. After work, i grab claude and we walk - i can go for hours! it's so lovely to not sweat profusely, and to feel invigorated!!!

have you been taking advantage of the "fall"? Any bakers out there? I think next week I'll bake a pie...

my weenie girl is back in my life! i have to tell you, dogs truly are a lifesaver. i read somewhere (probably on Bustle or Buzzfeed, or something) that life is GOING to feel lonely, because essentially no matter how many friends we have or how busy we are, we are alone. i agree.

i am not sure if i have mentioned this before on here, but matt travels for work a decent amount. like including this week :( and next week :( so yes, i do feel really lonely sometimes (although alone time is nice also). but claude saves my life. she makes me feel less scared at night, less tired in the morning, more excited to wake up, more energized and inspired to go for walks and more content to sit inside and stay in. she is such a lovely companion, and without her the sound of the voice in my head might ACTUALLY drive me nuts!

Anyone else obsessed with their pet like me?

Here's some pictures of the renovation going on in our home right now! As you know, we're not living there yet, so the house is pretty torn apart, but hopefully in a few weeks it will be all done!

Updates to the home include:

  • New kitchen from scratch (very fun, but also very stressful!)
  • New bathroom
  • Adding a ceiling fan to our bedroom
  • Adding hi-hats to our kitchen
  • Re-staining the wood floors
  • Repainting
Here's some inspiration for what it will look like upon completion! We are creating a bathroom very similar to this picture, but the kitchen has a lot of our own flair added in :) I'll share pictures along the way!

Any tips for us? Have any of you ever renovated before - what were some things you learned along the way?

We're all set up in our "temp home" and claude is officially a NY WEENIE! It's been a weekend filled with family - we had a wedding to attend... and the next two weekends = more weddings. It seems like i am that age. I wore this for a Saturday morning brunch on a beautiful, sunny, 55 degree day. ♥

anyone else find themselves in their late twenties, swamped with an endless # of weddings?

life has been SO crazy lately, that i forgot to set my alarm and was late to work today. that NEVER happens to me. i woke up and it was light out - and i knew right away. OOPS.

i am ready for the normalcy to return. is it sad that i am looking forward to boiling eggs for breakfast & making my salads for lunch with claudie by my side? it's really all i want. i am craving spending those 15 mins in the morning in my calm and settled home, drinking coffee in my favorite mug, with claudes cute sleepy face on my lap. or planning outfits with an organized closet, that is color coded and steamed. OH LIFES LUXURIES. haha. we are moving to a temp home for 3 weeks tomorrow while we start renovations on our home. just three more weeks until life goes back to normal. until i can wake up in my own bed, and finally unpack all my favorite vintage mugs & chairs!! moving really stinks guyssss.

has anyone else moved recently?

two of the toughest parts about being a "normal" kind of blogger like me are ...

1. when your husband works different hours than you, it can be tough to take pictures (hence mini blogging break). it's weird to ask anyone else to snap photos, and i feel weird being in them all the time to begin with! matt has been working hard, but we'll figure out this whole new schedule thing, even if it means photos at dusk!

2. Allowing myself to enjoy free time without worrying about snapping photos. Some days i just don't even want to think about photos, whether it be because i'm re-wearing a skirt for the 10th time, or just wanting to soak in the day. that makes for bad blog content though...

here's some snaps right at dusk after meeting matt! i have been wearing quite a lot of this panda sweater. also, this fall i just never EVER feel like tucking anything in. is anyone else feeling that way?

SURPRISE!

The Degreff's are officially homeowners! NY we're here to stay! It has been so tough keeping this one from the blog because it's been such an exciting part of our life for the past few months, but we wanted to wait until we had the keys and it was all official before we shared it. i am a little superstitious!

when i was 15, i snapped a polaroid of a home in Long Beach (if you live here, it's the house on national blvd with the lions outside). i called it the mac N cheese house, and i told everyone for years that one day i would live there. i've always adored long beach, and i always knew i would end up here. i carried that polaroid in my wallet for years... hung it on the wall in all of my homes, and kept it on my mind always. i still believe one day i will be in that home! the thing is - this town didn't seem like my starting point, more like where i would end up. when i met matt, and brought him here a few years back on this trip, i knew he was dreaming of living here too.

we decided early on that our top priority after getting married would be to own a home. it seemed logical to me, as my dad is a contractor and so are my aunt and uncle. on this trip up here for my aunts birthday, we found our dream condo. it had all of our must-haves: natural lighting, wood floors and a balcony. we didn't hesitate much, we put an offer in within the next day or so! the rest of the process took forever, but it was worth it!

we have been living with my aunt and uncle for the past few months (which is why i haven't shown you my new place on here!) We are renovating the kitchen/bathroom, and should be in our home by mid November! I will make sure to share pictures and our journey! we are just so grateful and excited to finally have taken this step, and to be in NY :) Thanks for taking this journey with me! It really feels like you guys have been there for so much. ♥

XO

p.s. to all who asked about my cupcake beanie, you can find it here.

fall leaves, upstate ny

... yes, i am a blogger. and yes, bloggers stereotypically love fall, and go on and on about how wonderful it is. but GUYS. this time last year I was here dressing like this. actually NEEDING tights and knee highs is a concept I've forgotten all about! it was in the 40's on this day upstate - and i may have even been CHILLY! i might be the only human in the state of ny excited for the cooler temps, but boy am i giddy.

i am also giddy because ... I HAVE A SURPRISE FOR YOU. but i will tell you alll about it next post. hate to be that gal, but don't want to jinx anything before sharing! xo
