here's the thing about blogging-- it takes any self criticism that we all have from the voice in our head, and it triples it. i like myself, i really do (i think i am sort of funny, and the right amount of weird) but that definitely does not mean that i don't harbor a great deal of insecurity. and lately the blog just does not help!

i guess it's an entire mixture of things, the main one being that looking at pictures of models/ stick thin 6 foot tall women in clothing that fits seemingly perfect can take it's toll. standing in front of that camera is not always fun. editing these pictures makes me nitpick myself to pieces, and lately i've literally just wanted to throw on this oversize plaid shirt and call it a day. maybe it's because of the extra few pounds that seems typical from the first few months of being married, or maybe it's self doubt, but doing this thing we call blogging is not always easy for me. i keep doing it because i love clothes, but here's an honest, oversized outfit that has been pretty typical lately. hopefully i can learn to love myself more and move on from this lazy tomboy phase that has struck me.

i see the world in colors. i know it seems obscure, but after being in art school for so many years everything is just a negative and positive space with very distinguished color. my preference is of course warm colors, and to be in places where the light feels fuzzy and orange. i am convinced that is why i subliminally prefer to be in the northeast.

the air is SO crisp, and the warm yellows, pinks and oranges cut through the clouds in this spectacular crisp way that is so palpable, you can even capture it! these pictures sum up my love. my love of the warm sun beaming through the cool air, and the incredible feeling of looking into the sun at dusk and feeling alive. am i crazy, or do you know what i mean?

last nights beautiful hazy walk on the boardwalk to eat dinner at my cousins house. every day i stop and just think "wow, i am lucky." it is really so pretty here.

it has been cooling off at night, so it was the perfect opportunity to wear these 90s style quirky high waisted pants from H&M that make me feel like Michael Jackson. they are so comfortable, and i love how they are a mix of sporty but feminine. I am thinking of re-wearing today with some sneaks! H&Ms fall collection is filled with exciting mod/fashion forward pieces just perfect for retro 90s-loving gals like me. They will definitely be my go-to during NYFW, which is right around the corner (and my first one!)

Today we're off to the city! Xo

Who is ready for fall, and who is okay with summer? For once in my life, I don't really mind if the summer stays a little longer. Summer here means...

- perfect 70 degree days
- sunshine, especially at this magical hour of the evening
- weekend adventures
- some layers, but not a definite need for pants or tights

what could really be better? northerners, when does it start to get cold?

there's this one street in marthas vineyard behind my parents house that i see when i close my eyes and am in a meditative state. on days when i am really tired, or extraordinarily relaxed i can see myself walking toward the sunshine on this particular street and it is later in the day. I am passing the overflowing pink flowers and the white picket fence to the right and I hear silence. it feels like it will be the last image on my mind at the end of my life. it truly is my favorite street in the world.

we are nearing the end of our vacation here, and it has been lovely as always. i brought along these vintage overalls because ... comfort, vacation style, etc! it truly is impossible to go wrong with overalls.

Even though I have lived in NY 3 times before this (til' I was 8, in college and after college) I never had a car here. It's been really fun actually learning my way around more than just manhattan, and realizing how the suburbs connect to one another. My dad grew up in Rockaway Beach, so we decided to check it out last night for dinner. the taco place we found, rockaway taco, was GOOD.

i wore this sweet gingham shirt, that i styled last summer here. something about the grungy feeling of NY makes me lean toward black and chambray. this girlie girl needs a little edge :)

any NY suggestions, we are all ears! XO
