do you ever get dressed and fall in love with the outfit you picked out on the first try? it is a rare occurrence for me, but i picked out this outfit in one try! i just knew this bag would look perfect with stripes and some mustard yellow! on normal occasions i change about five times though, so do not be fooled.

some of my friends think that because i have a fashion blog i am an outfit miracle worker, but trust me this is not so. they are curious about watching me get dressed, but i usually try on a ton of looks like everyone else! it's hard to get a feeling for how a top or a shoe looks with an outfit until you actually put it on. what is your process for getting ready? any fun techniques out there?

miami beach moments.

it has been a beautiful week filled with endless adventures. life is in a happy place. here are some peeks!

1. we visited our best friends in ormond beach this past weekend for memorial day. the ferris wheel was sadly closed :(

2. i've been experimenting with different ways to wear my short hair. any ideas? leave links!

3. & 4. here are some peeks into the office i work in. the light is gorgeous, and kevin who sits next to me has plants (and actually keeps them alive, which i fail at!)

5. of course, claude being cute.

6. & 7. some treats from our daytona beach roadtrip.

8. Clem's camera shop was matt's idea of heaven.

have a beautiful thursday! xo

all it takes is a tiny hint of loneliness to remember how wonderful human beings are to know, and to be surrounded by. when matt travels for work, i walk on lincoln road with claude and i gravitate toward the most logical place to find friends, j.crew. i spent the evening catching up with old co-workers, and remembering how beautiful it is just to KNOW someone, anyone, everyone-- and to stay in touch.

i have two kinds of friends in my life; the first kind makes an effort to stay connected (to myself, and to others) and the second kind makes no effort. as i grow older, i just know it feels right to be the first kind of friend, the person who still sends a messsage/text/e-mail/skype ANYTHING once in a blue moon, so as not to fully disconnect. some days i look around and think how awful humankind is (as i'm sure everyone does sometimes). but a majority of the days, and especially recently, i think about how lucky we are to know each other. because without each other we would all be nobody. so thank you for making me feel like a somebody. ♥

anything answered: a vlog!

hello there! i've decided to add a new feature to the blog: each week i will post an "ask me anything" post on instagram(@steffyspandcs), and on tuesdays one readers' question will be answered in a VLOG, with a little shoutout!

the beautiful part about the feature (and the most fun part for me!) is that we will be taking videos from every day life for the vlog posts, to give you a little peak into our miami life! so here is episode one:

let me know what you think in the comments!

one extra day of the weekend increases my sense of adventure by about 80%. if only we could tack a few extra hours on of work to the other 4 days of the week and always have a three-day weekend! i am in daytona beach, florida-- about 4.5 hours north of miami. so far i've...

devoured the largest ice cream cone in my life ( at ocean freeze)
played ski ball for the first time in 5 years
visited the largest flea market (and the best camera shop ever)
ran twice
surfed, or tried to
had donuts for breakfast ( at house of donuts)
ate two home-cooked family style meals with my best friends

it's been quite a weekend! i hope you all have a great memorial day! xo

dress: The Braided Bandit (receive 30% off with code STEFFY30 !)-- this vintage boutique is incredible, trust me. every item is adorable ♥

cherries and mint.

the other night i was cleaning the dishes and the thought of my own mortality (and that of my parents) popped into my head, and a little baby tear formed in the corner of my eyes. the kind that lingers there just long enough to slowly trickle down your face; just one tear, that is all.

i am getting older, and sometimes i worry about life's timeline. i never worry about my own though, only those of others around me. like.. will matt live so long that i get to see him grow old? or, will my parents and my in-laws be able to see my children graduate? not in a morbid way, but in a way that i want to really digest these questions so if i am faced with them again one day, they won't smack me in the face and knock the wind out of me. it is true what they say about life's speed; it passes quicker as the years go by. i drink my morning coffee, straighten my bangs, make my 30 minute commute to work, pound away at my desk, take my hour lunch break, go for a run after work, and before i know it another month is passed. it's a wonderful thing, but also sometimes i stop and look at my parents and realize they look and feel completely different than they did ten years ago. or i look at matt and realize how much he has grown since i met him six years ago. do any of you have these same thoughts and realizations?

the last thing i have to say about these kinds of thoughts is that it feels wonderful to have them, but not to dwell on them. the passage of time is a painful and also beautiful thing. i have watched so many of my friends and family accomplish so much in the short amount of years i have been here, and for that i thank you, time. and i am SO excited to see what is in store for the future. i hope you all have a great memorial day weekend! xo

one of my favorite parts of attending fashion events is bringing others with me who are not bloggers. the fashion industry, to me, feels like this little world that is so far excluded from reality that it's seemingly mythological until you are there, and in it. i can remember my first fashion event ever, when i worked backstage dressing models, and how chaotic and foreign it felt. now it feels comfortable, yet still extremely privileged, and sharing that privilege with others brings me so much joy.

i brought my sister-in-law dana with me to the andres sarda show and the Tous after party on friday night. the show was vegas themed, and i admit our eyes glistened watching models dressed in sequins and florals, and our favorite-- a full body romper with bell bottoms. i personally have trouble getting "dressed up" for these events, being that i am usually casual, so i grabbed an all black cat ensemble. it works every time!

a weekend at miami fashion week ♥

with Dany from Nany's Klozet

even during miami fashion week i refuse to wear heels (and maybe, just MAYBE NYFW could get me in 1-2 inch heels). sometimes i look around and feel like i am the only gal at the party in flats and a hat, but i like being me, and i like being comfortable! i wore this to the kick-off party of miami fashion week. i hardly ever wear pink, or much jewelry... and this is as femme as i may ever be! it has been a fun-filled weekend, and i spent most of my time at miami fashion week with my blogger pals, but alas it is time to go back to work! xo!

p.s. what do you think of the new logo/ layout? i did it all myself! i am in love with learning illustrator!
