NEVER MISS A POST

wedding updates!

our wedding is getting closer (only 6 months, can you believe it!?) and i thought i would start to share weekly updates for anyone else who is planning a wedding out there. PLUS, i need your help. i've never planned a party this important before, so it will be fun to hear your feedback and advice about planning your own weddings! i got the idea from mara, as i loved following her planning process. To start, i found a dress and shoes! it was actually not the most fun process to me, because i knew exactly what i wanted and felt like it was hard to find. all the dresses are so puffy and overstated, so i was glad to find one more simple. i am going to keep it a secret until the big day :) .

we also booked our venue, and will be getting married in an antique barn. we've taken care of all the big bookings such as caterers, DJ, etc, and now we are moving on to the detailing (the hard part for me!) next weekend matt, my parents, his parents and i are going to meet with the cake baker and the florist, so today i wanted to share some of my inspiration. how did you choose the flowers at your wedding? is there anything i should bring in preparation for the appointment! fill me in, ladies!

  1. The yellow flat + bridesmaid dresses is my favorite. I love it. Flats forever!

  3. I get married in 7 weeks Saturday! I'm a my decorative process now, I'm having a rustic garden themed wedding. So logs for my centerpieces, lavender, wild flowers. I actually ordered my flowers online and sent them all my inspiration from Pinterest. xx

  4. Oh man, the flowers ended up being the most stressful part of my wedding! I had book an appointment at a pick your own wildflower farm and a week before the wedding I decided to go check out what flowers they had growing that season to get a better idea of what the bouquets and reception flowers would look like. When I got there EVERYTHING was dead. It had been a really dry season and I guess the flowers didn't survive through it. I ended up having to place an overnight order at a local florist to get everything in on time. I was going for a wildflower feel so I just picked up whatever flowers suited that and mix and matched little vases to put everywhere.

I would say to just go in with an open mind because some flowers I wanted were out of season and would have cost me a lot of money to get them delivered but because I was open to other options, my florist was able to get me in season flowers for cheap that looked fairly similar to the ones I originally wanted.

Good luck! It will feel amazing to get one more think checked off your wedding to do list!

  7. Your wedding is going to be beautiful! We actually did our own flowers for our wedding- ordered them bulk from Sam's Club and scheduled them to be delivered about 36 hours before the ceremony time so they had time to open. Then, the night before the wedding my bridesmaids and I made it into a party and drank wine and made bouquets, boutonnieres, and simple centerpieces. It was so much fun and so, SO much cheaper than hiring a florist.

  8. You have a cute and fun idea for all of it especially your bridesmaid wearing yellow flats so nice and simple :> I wish that your entrance is like at the breaking dawn movie where petals of roses showers you from above the ceiling. Hope you show you pre nuptial video and also you wedding video afterwards. God bless Steffy :>

  9. @orchidgrey -- THAT SOUNDS INCREDIBLE. i wish we could do this, the wedding is 4 hours away so we're more limited on the DIY projects because we have to drive everything up. Definitely considering DIYing the boutonnieres though!

  10. I haven't gone to the florist or my cake baker yet. But I would def. bring pictures of things that I like. Also let them know what your theme of your wedding is along with the colors. Good luck with your appointments!!

  13. I think that the hardest part, the dress is already covered.

The flowers and the cake are the easiest. Almost all flowers are pretty and most cakes are delicious and pretty. Enjoy!
